sweet spring is your
time is my time is our
time for springtime is lovetime
and viva sweet love
This weekend it rained and suddenly everything decided to turn green. I had the same realization last year, but it hit me just as much again this year how contrasting winter with summer is in Korea. The winter feels so long and dead and lifeless. In the winter everything seems to be a similar color. Hikes seem to blend together and look the same. Brown, brown, brown.
Then there’s spring.
The colorless landscape suddenly turns completely green and alive. I can’t help but smile on my morning walk to work, listening to the birds chirp, watching the kids laugh and play on their way to school, and passing new flowers blooming everywhere, pushing through the sidewalk cracks.
The park has been filled with bikers, joggers, and soccer players. Tents pop up for Saturday picnics. Cherry blossom gazers file side by side to catch a glimpse of the blooms before they’re gone. Everyone has come out of hiding.
I am so grateful for spring.
